Crowdfunded projects, COMPLETE!

I’m so happy and proud, that after the success of my crowdfunding campaign, we have been able to help and support so many people and groups by installing 3 water tanks and constructing 2 chicken houses, as well as support the local children’s and rescue centre!

Here are the pictures of the finished projects, after the progress report last week:

Kwaheri Kenya :(

It feels slightly weird being sat typing on a laptop with WiFi, and not at a cyber cafe with slow, unreliable internet. BUT i’m finally home after the most incredible 3 months of my life…

The last few days have been mostly spent saying our final goodbyes to a place that became our home and to the people that became our family, to the community, host homes, and placements.

We started on Sunday, when we held the community farewell, where we spent the day at Mwatate childrens home and rescue centre. We invited our host homes and placement supervisors and took the day to support the home to mark the end of our stay in Taita Taveta.

After spending our last evening in our host homes we left on Monday morning packed with all our belongings and headed to the Sagala Lodge, for a debrief and then for the final time spent the evening together with our team.

Tuesday was mostly travelling and leaving Taita Taveta for the last time as we headed for Nairobi on a 7 hour coach journey.

Then finally on Wednesday, it was time to say goodbye to our family that had been Team Taita Taveta! Goodbyes are never easy and saying so to the Kenyan volunteers, to the people who had become like our brothers and sisters.

Then to you Kenya, as we took off in the plane, to describe this country is impossible, to a country that become my home and to the culture and lifstyle that became normality, a country so steeped in beauty and wonder that is so often reflected in its people… THANK YOU AND GOODBYE for the best 3 months of my life!

…And i’ll definitely be back!
